Lailo

As members / guests performed Antonico Noegelen Reyes, Manuel Reyes, Gloria Gaynor, Jörg Spiller. They worked together with the Gipsy Kings.
Jörg "Bonito" Bartelsen left the group to Mexico where he is playing now as "Latcho & Andrea" Angel Huertas replaces Bonito, and Angels brother David is new on cajon. Laïlo produced 4 CD's, one of them live, Soundtracks.
Their musical roots they found in the Flamenco centers between Camargue and Granada, where they found each other in 1976.
The name "Laïlo" is a derivate of the Arabian prayer "alah ile alah" that was listened for centuries in Andalousia.

Some German Gipsy Flamenco sampler CD's are introduced with informations about the performing groups, their members, their history and background. Here Felipe Sauvageon was responsable for in reason of the deep knowledge he has about the Camargue Flamenco scene.
He is known with Manitas, Hippolyte Baliardo, Manuel Arenas, Los Niños Salvages, the Rosenbergs, last but not least the Reyes / Baliardo families and so on.

On March 17th, 1998, I had the great luck to see them in a club in Mainz, near my home. Liking to cover some Gipsy Kings and Los Reyes songs, they combined "Baila Me" with "Amiwawa" to one song, a well done idea ! Their guitarplay is out of question, and they have the rythm in blood and they "like" to play. The club isn't a big one, the about 40 guests filled the room. But just started to play, they would have continued to play, even without any listener, just for their own fun. New in their programm were two Sevillianas, a Spanish guitar player and two very nice dance-girls Knowing about their good knowledges and contacts to the South France Flamenco - Scene, I took the chance to give them a printout of my pages and ask them to identify some unknown persons on my pictures. Felipe Sauvageon helped me to find André Reyes, member of the Gipsy Kings, Manéro Baliardo, son of Manitas de Plata, Mounin Jean Claude Vila, now member of "Los Reyes", the new generation, Nanasso Baliardo. They are very happy to be now known worldwide via internet. In September 1999, I had again the chance to see / hear them here in Mainz. In contrast to the club concert, at the "Honky Tonk Festival", they played here at the main place of the festival and the accoustical technics has been excellent ! What a Fiesta !
