Maewa - The Meeting with Gitano Family
in Arles, May 2001

Before starting to Les-Sainte-Maries-de-la-Mer, I fixed a date with Julio Romero for a meeting 
in  " Les Vagues".
Arrived there, we had the chance to speak with Nicolas Reyes, Mario Regis, Patchaï Reyes. 
Than we had a longer speach with Julio, who answered a lot of questions and told us of some 
problems Camargue musicians have.

Finally Julio invited us to a diner and a concert in Arles at the Maewa, a holidy parc in Arles.
For some of us it was our last day in Camargue, so that we had to look for a hotel and spent
some times in Arles, where Karin Hausammann fond the Arcades beeing the background 
pictures of the Gipsy Kings CD " Estrellas ".
 

Before the concert started later in the evening, Gitanoy Family played at the lobby and in the 
garden for all guests of the "Maewa" holiday parc, animated for dancing, introducing themselves
to the public.

After a break and a fine diner, where we had again the possibility for some talks learning 
more about  Gitano Family and their music, the concert for the emplyees of a French enterprise 
started. 
These "galas" are where Gitano Family earns their money, they play what the client asks, 
or more pop style, or more flamenco style. The CDs are important, but more for fun.
Here at the Maewa, Gitano Family was asked to play for dance, nevertheless, Mario Reyes,
as guest solo guitarplayer had the chance for very fine solo parts showing his big talent.

Till the end of the show, Marjorie Romero and Nena Reyes asked the public to come on stage 
for dancing.

We all had a very nice evening with Gitano Family wich ended with a lot of talks and drinks.
